Do you live in Blaenavon, Thornhill, Upper Cwmbran, Trevethin, Penygarn, or St. Cadocs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our volunteer task group, the People's Committee!
As an active member of the Peoples Committee, you’ll play a vital role in scoring applications to Torfaen’s Communities Choice PB Initiative. You’ll collaborate closely with the PB Communities Choice Coordinator, attending monthly meetings to discuss key community issues, evaluating proposals against the communities’ priorities’, promoting the initiative and supporting at local engagement and voting events.
The People’s Committee is committed to a fair and transparent decision-making process, selecting the best proposals to advance to a public vote. By joining, you’ll empower residents to actively shape local projects that address priority community issues.
Duties to include (but not limited to):
- Supporting local meetings and events.
- Undertaking eLearning in Participatory Budgeting, Managing a Budget and the Peoples committees.
- Promoting the Communities Choice Initiative in Torfaen.
- Working as part of a team to score and vote on proposals to the community’s choice grant
- Reviewing and monitoring funded projects to ensure they are delivered as outlined.
- Providing ongoing feedback to TVA’s Communities Choice Coordinator to help refine future rounds
